Just a day after we reported that Honda was gearing up to launch the CB1000 Hornet, the company has launched the bike in India in its higher-spec SP guise. The CB1000 Hornet SP features a 999cc, inline-four, liquid-cooled engine that produces 157hp at 11,000rpm and 107Nm at 9,000rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a bi-directional quickshifter.

Suspension duties are handled by a Showa USD fork up front and an Ohlins monoshock at the rear. Braking hardware includes twin 310mm discs with radially mounted Brembo Stylema calipers, and a 240mm disc at the rear.

It comes equipped with a 5.0-inch TFT display, similar to the one seen on the CB750 Hornet, with smartphone connectivity for music, navigation, and call information. The safety suite includes five rider modes (Sport, Standard, Rain, and two custom modes) and three levels of traction control.

At Rs 12.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram), the only real rival to the Honda CB1000 Hornet is the Suzuki Katana (13.61 lakh) but in terms of pricing it costs similar to middleweight rivals such as the Triumph Street Triple RS (Rs 11.81-Rs 12.07 lakh) and even undercuts the Ducati Monster SP (Rs 15.95 lakh). The CB1000 Hornet will be sold exclusively via Honda’s BigWing Topline dealer network in India and deliveries will commence from June.
