Kia has officially unveiled the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figures for the upcoming Carens Clavis MPV. Once it goes on sale later this month, the Carens Clavis will be available with three engine options: a 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit, a 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor, and a 116hp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel mill.
A 6-speed manual gearbox is available across all three Carens Clavis engines, with the diesel additionally offering a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The turbo-petrol unit, meanwhile, can be had with two more transmissions over the manual – a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
- Kia Carens Clavis diesel-manual variants offer the highest mileage at 19.54kpl
- Turbo-petrol engine delivers 16.66kpl with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox
- Carens Clavis 1.5 petrol is the least efficient of the range at 15.34kpl
Kia Carens Clavis mileage details
Diesel-manual configuration is the most frugal
The Carens Clavis has a maximum fuel efficiency of 19.54kpl.
The Carens Clavis ekes out the best fuel efficiency in its diesel variants, with the 6-speed manual version delivering the highest mileage of the range at 19.54kpl, followed by the 6-speed automatic at 17.50kpl. Taking second place in the Carens Clavis’ fuel efficiency rankings is the sportier 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, which achieves 16.66kpl for its 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, while both its 6-speed manual and iMT transmissions are tied at 15.95kpl. The entry-level naturally aspirated petrol engine comes in third place with a 15.34kpl mileage for its sole 6-speed manual configuration.
These fuel efficiency figures fall behind the Carens Clavis’ primary competition, namely the Maruti Suzuki XL6 (20.27-20.97kpl), Ertiga (20.30-26.11kpl), and Toyota Rumion (20.11-26.11kpl), with the latter two also offering highly frugal CNG options. It’s worth noting, though, that the Carens Clavis comes with more powerful engines across the board.
Here’s a breakdown of every Carens Clavis powertrain and the mileage you can expect from them:

Pricing to be confirmed on May 23
Seven trims will be on offer for the Carens Clavis.

However, it’s worth noting that the 6-seat layout will only be available with the Carens Clavis’ top-spec HTX+ trim.
