Mahindra has silently updated the prices of select range-topping variants of its flagship SUV, the XUV700. The Mahindra XUV700 AX7 and AX7 L variants see prices increase by Rs 30,000-50,000. The updated price list of the top-spec XUV700 variants is below:

  1. Mahindra XUV700 price range is now Rs 13.99-25.64 lakh
  2. XUV700 AX7 L DT sees the highest increase in price
  3. Top-spec XUV700 price undercuts range-topping Tata Safari

From the tables, one can see that the range-topping variants continue to be available in 6-seat and 7-seat form, and that other than the top-spec XUV700 AX7 L DT variants, which see a Rs 50,000 increase, the price hike is almost a uniform Rs 30,000. However, the manual gearbox-equipped AX7 and AX7 DT variants see no change. This means that the XUV700 range is now priced from Rs 13.99 lakh for the base MX petrol-manual variant, to Rs 25.64 lakh for the AX7 L DT 4WD 7-seater variant in diesel-auto form. It should be noted that it was just six months ago that Mahindra slashed prices for these variants by over Rs 2 lakh.

The XUV700 AX7 variants get features like a Level 2 ADAS suite, dual-tone colour options, 18-inch diamond cut alloys, a 6-way powered driver’s seat with a memory function, auto headlights and wipers, dual-zone climate control, and leatherette interiors. The AX7 L, meanwhile, comes with a blind spot monitor, 360-degree camera, a knee airbag (taking the total to 7 airbags), an electronic parking brake, a 12-speaker sound system, ventilated front seats and rear LED sequential turn indicators.

Both trims get the 200hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine or the 185hp 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine. However, only the AX7 gets the petrol-manual option, while the AX7 L is an automatic only trim. Mahindra offers 4WD tech with both trims in diesel form, which cost about Rs 1-1.2 lakh higher than the 2WD-automatic counterparts.

Despite the increase in price, the Mahindra XUV700 is still well priced when compared to the Tata Safari (Rs 15.49 lakh-26.79 lakh), but costs more than the Hyundai Alcazar (Rs 14.99 lakh-21.55 lakh) and the MG Hector Plus (Rs 18.00-23.58 lakh).
