Tata Altroz facelift interior and exterior changes

Significant differences outside and inside, along with more features

When Tata took the wraps off the Altroz facelift on May 12, we had reported that the mid-cycle update for the premium hatchback featured significant changes over the outgoing model. Design highlights on the Altroz facelift’s exterior include new LED headlights with updated DRL signatures, a new grille and bumpers, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with a new design, flush-fitting illuminated door handles, and horizontal T-shaped LED tail-lamps connected by an LED light bar. Tata offers the Altroz facelift in five colours – Dune Glow, Ember Glow, Pristine White, Pure Grey, and Royal Blue.

Features list on top-spec Altroz facelift longer than outgoing model

The Altroz facelift’s interior will be similiar to the Nexon and Curvv SUVs – the 2-spoke steering wheel, 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster (which has navigation and blind spot monitoring displays), and controls for the auto AC are common. The top-spec Altroz Accomplished + S gets kit such as a sunroof, rear AC vents and USB charger, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Tata’s in-car connectivity tech, cruise control, a Harman audio system, automatic headlights and wipers, height adjustable seat belt and a 360-degree camera. Six airbags and ESP are standard across the Altroz facelift’s range. It should be noted that the outgoing Altroz scored a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating. The brand claims a boot space of 345 litres, which drops to 210 litres with the twin-cylinder CNG kit.

Tata Altroz facelift engine and gearbox options

New AMT option for 1.2 petrol engine

The Altroz facelift carries forward its predecessor’s engine options. The 86hp, 1.2-litre petrol with manual and 6-speed dual-clutch auto options; the 90hp, 1.5-litre diesel with a manual (Tata claims a 0-100kph time of 12.8 seconds); and the 74hp, 1.2-litre CNG with a manual are the same as before. The interetsing bit here is that the Altroz facelift in petrol form also gets a 5-speed AMT option. It should be noted the Altroz Racer’s 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol mill is not available on the updated premium hatchback. It remains to be seen if Tata Motors will offer the sportier Racer variant with the Altroz facelift.
