Tata Motors has showcased the Avinya X concept at the ongoing Auto Expo 2025 which will likely be the first model from a new family of premium EVs. This electric concept has the form factor of a large coupe-SUV and it looks completely different from the wagon-like concept that was showcased in 2022. The first model from Tata’s Avinya range is expected to hit showrooms in 2026.
The Avinya X showcased at the event is still in concept stage, so the design is very striking. It sits high up from the ground, has sharply raked front and rear windscreens and the body panels appear smooth but muscular. The most defining element about the design, however, seems to be the expanded ‘T’ logo at the front and rear that doubles up as an LED lighting signature. The rest of the front and rear fascia has a very clean design that’s contrasted by gloss black finishes on the bumpers.
The face also gets two slim horizontal strips of DRLs with Matrix Technology at the edges of the bumper. In profile, the coupe-like silhouette with a contrasting finish for the C-pillar and the large dual-tone wheels also look very attractive.
Tata Motors hasn’t yet revealed the full interiors of the Avinya, but from what could be seen from under the wraps, it gets a new two-spoke steering wheel with a large center boss and a floating central infotainment screen that looks very similar to the Range Rover SUV. There’s also a slim band of screen spanning the width of the dashboard which serves instrumentation duties. The dashboard gets a dual-tone finish and the overall theme is quite minimalistic.
Expect the production-spec model to come with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) capabilities, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger and multi-zone auto AC. It will also likely feature a 360-degree camera and an ADAS suite.
There aren’t much technical details of the Avinya X yet, but we know that it will be underpinned by JLR’s EMA platform. Expected it to have a large battery pack option with at least 500km of range, and fast charging capabilities. The platform will be scalable, meaning that it can be configured with multiple battery pack options.
